2007 ValhallaThe Valhalla Obrien Wakeboards

Information:
Glassy conditions, stomping the biggest of double ups, tech tricks, huge carves, and even those rough days of choppy water. The Valhalla has proven to be a powerhouse in the O’Brien line and will be for quite some time. It’s already become a favorite of many team riders and the deck of choice for the rider wanting to push the limits this summer. The Valhalla has a variable beveled edge which is soft in the mid-section for a skate feel when flat, and smooth ride in rough conditions. The deck is equipped with a progressive 3-stage rocker. What does that mean you ask? That means this deck carries speed like a continuous rocker board, but pops like any other 3-stage board. Just for added kick off the wake we widened the tip and tail profile. The concave hull displaces water upon impact for softer landings, so you are already covered on all those huge airs you’ll be hooking up on. (more…)

2007 ViceThe Vice Obrien Wakeboards

Information:
The first thing you will notice about this board more than any other in our entire line is the extremely wide shape. Dialing in the optimal width without creating too much drag is always the question. The crew at O’Brien worked with Josh Sanders, the 2005 King of Wake, through countless hours of tweaking and multiple time zones to deliver the best wide waist (no, not your girlfriend) deck on the market. The wider the board, the more pop you get from the wake. With waist widths up to 18 inches, it claims the title of widest deck on the market. Aiding in control is the curved outer molded in fins, allowing you to load the line and kick huge off the wake. We incorporated the Crook fins to give the board added stability and edge control no matter what the water conditions are. The double concave base softens the landings while channeling the water out the back of the board for speed. The deeper back channel give the board a loose feel while riding flat and gives a quick, strong snap when you leave the wake. (more…)

2008 Coda Wakeboard Reviews

Coda Obrien WakeboardsCoda Obrien Wakeboards

Information:
Due to some legal rabble babble with its name, last year’s Cartel comes back renamed the Coda. Arguably the fastest 3-stage board on the market today, the Coda is alive, quick and snappy on the water. The low-volume step down rail provides superior edging and accelerated edge to edge response. The true 3-stage rocker line provides an aggressive vert pop and the signature DELTA bottom gives the deck a clean release off the wake. V-spine bottom disperses impact on landings – even landing in the flats.

Brand new for ‘08, the O’Brien Coda is everything you have come to expect from O’Brien for hard hitting freestyle performance. O’Briens R&D department relentlessly dedicated all their spare time designing this new shape. They combined the best composite technologies and a subtle chevron design with a progressive 3-stage rocker for the ultimate boost off the wake. Why you ask? All so that you can fine tune your style and stand out in your crew. Nick Ennen destroys it on the O’Brien Coda. (more…)

2008 Natural Wakeboard Reviews

Natural Obrien Wakeboards

Information:
“After the debut season on the market, the Natural has already become one of the most innovative decks on the market. The legacy it has created only continues for 2008.” When designing this deck, O’Brien’s engineers sat down and worked the details out with Daniel Watkins. He wanted the wakeboard to have similar features to his last wakeboard, the Player. So O’Brien pushed the limits with the already successful Player to create the Natural. For starters the molded fins were narrowed and/ or shortened to create less drag and let this deck build as much speed as possible. However this did not quite create the speed Daniel was looking for, so the chevron notches were introduced to the bottom of the wakeboard. Used in competition race boats for years, the chevrons help break water off the tail of the wakeboard making it ride higher and faster in the water. This gives you a 3-stage rocker wakeboard that adds many characteristics of a continuous rocker wakeboard, making it nearly compatible with any style of rider. The rails were fully rolled all the way up through and to the cupped rails, making the deck roll onto edge smoother for a more natural feeling. It also made the wakeboard more durable to sliders and kickers. Daniel loved the ultra smooth landings of the Player so we kept the same double concave in the middle of the wakeboard. (more…)

2007 Player Wakeboard Reviews

The Player Obrien Wakeboards

Information:
As one of the most popular boards ever to grace the O’Brien line, the Player (designed by Daniel Watkins) is definitely a board just waiting to explode off the wake. This is all due to an aggressive 3-stage rocker and wider mid-section. If you’re a rider who likes incredibly precise edge hold, the Player has cupped rails and ten total fins (8 molded, 2 removable) to give you more than you’d ever want. Not to worry, you can completely cut this deck loose by taking off the removable fins giving you a forgiving skate feel. It all depends on how you want to ride. (more…)

The Oasis’ price makes it affordable for a newcomer getting into the sport without sacrificing their progression that will inevitably happen. (more…)

The Vixen Obrien Wakeboards

Information:
Designed with the same ideas behind the Oasis, this board was made to be very an easy deck to ride. Top contours provide less swing weight making the board that responds much quicker in edge to edge carves and spinning. The rails are cupped for incredible hold while on edge and the four molded in fins make for solid landings, and a very stable and forgiving ride. (more…)
